A New Year’s Eve prank. When we were there, the Belgians we met struck us as the Canadians of Europe - polite, easy to talk to, and proud of their very clean country. Can anyone tell what the car is? I can’t make it out.

Was the subway closed? Because if not, that’s one hell of a dangerous prank. What if someone had been in or moved into the way of the car?

Precisely. When we used the train system, it was not crowded, but we were there over a long weekend for a wedding. FYI - there are vending machines on train platforms that sell beer. Why I don’t move there I have no idea.

This was done at 8PM on NYE (per the explanation on YouTube) while the subway was operational, but not rush-hour busy. Stupid.

Local news on the subject: http://deredactie.be/cm/vrtnieuws.e…

Anderlecht is a suburban area of western Brussels. They have their own football club and it is home to one of the two Ikeas in the Brussels area.

I live about 40km away.

And yes, there is beer everywhere, and good beer if you look a bit harder (Jupiler is not good beer, but it is in vending machines everywhere.) Beer can be purchased in the drive-thru at McDonald’s here.

Most importantly, the car looks to be an Axiam.

Leffe Blonde isn’t that good out of a bottle here, but it’s like champagne on tap in Belgium. At least for me. We went into tiny pubs in Ghent that brewed their own beer - 3 seat bars, and we got to taste test. What a country!

I lived and worked in southern Holland (Veghel and Eindhoven) so every Belgian I met was usually completely stoned or drunk. Once our boss asked where they were as they were late. We had to tell him they were all arrested as someone forgot to put the cannabis in the locker before leaving work and so everyone got arrested by the Belgian police once they crossed into Belgian. The factory was so quiet for those two days. I dreaded everytime the factory radio played ‘who let the dogs out’ because they were crazy guys.

Very different than the lady I met who sold us lace for our cat-sitter. Many types of Belgians.

Exactly. That and we get all kinds of weird beers, too, like Leffe Whit, Chimay Rouge, etc. And Westvleteren.

Found a Belgian bar up the street that stocks loads of Belgian brews, and the correct glasses for them. It’s a nice place to hang out.

There used to be a place in lower Manhattan called The Peculiar Pub. They had a lot of good brews. That was many, many moons ago.
